Training Overview
Our Excel and Access training curriculum was developed with one purpose
in mind: getting job tasks completed more efficiently and more accurately by using the full
power of Excel and Access. We have found that by focusing on the key fundamental features in Excel,
workers can get the same amount of work done in far less time. Most of the examples are geared for
accountants and finance professionals.
Training Formats
We offer three training formats; each can be half-day (3 hour) or full-day (6 hour):
- Presentation style; attendees not required to have a laptop (best for groups of 50+)
- Workshop style; laptops required, hands-on exercises (best for groups of 5-50)
- Web-based presentation (best for distributed and remote attendees; max 10).
Materials
Attendees will receive a pdf copy of the training manual, which includes screenshots and narrative
covering each Excel feature covered in class. Also, they will receive a bundle of Excel workbook
files that are the workbooks we present and use during the class.
Topics
Pivot Tables, digital reporting, hyperlinks, workbook and worksheet protection, if() function, conditional
formatting, data validation, subtotal function, autofilter, vlookup(), subtotal menu item, function wizard,
named ranges, linking workbooks, data group, absolute and relative cell references, custom menus, macros,
concatenate, external data ranges, and more. If the course includes Access, the topics include tables,
queries, forms, reports, indexes, data types, relationships, select queries, form controls, report controls
and more. In addition, clients can customize the topics or topic selection for their course and even
include sample workbooks from their company.
About the Presenter
Jeff Lenning CPA CITP teaches Excel across the nation, mostly to accountants and finance
professionals in public practice and private industry. His technology and Excel articles
are featured in various publications including the Journal of Accountancy. He is the chair
of the California CPA State Technology Committee, the chair of the California CPA OCLB Chapter
Technology Committee, a Board Member of the California CPA OCLB Chapter, on the California
Society of CPAs Council, and an instructor for the California CPA Education Foundation.
